Andy Bergholtz

Andy Bergholtz, Ray’s non-blood brother from another mother is a professional sculptor currently working and living in Southern California.  Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Bergholtz spent his early life cultivating his skills as an illustrator, and continued honing this craft as a student at Kansas City Art Institute.  After only one year in art school, Bergholtz took a job as a concept designer for a major toy company in the midwest.

Andy’s career as an illustrator was short lived, however, as he discovered his true calling in the world of sculpture.  What had begun as a self-taught hobby had quickly become an obsession, and Bergholtz eventually left his job as a designer to pursue a career in commercial sculpture, working for such clients as McFarlane Toys, Diamond Select Toys, DC Comics and many more.  Bergholtz currently works at Sideshow Collectibles where he designs & creates high end collectible statues based on pop culture icons, collaborating with various creative entities such as Marvel Comics, Disney, Lucasfilm, Warner Bros, Hasbro and many others.

Bergholtz is also a partner at Villafane Studios, where he works alongside founder and longtime friend & colleague Ray Villafane, creating works of art in a variety of unconventional mediums.  As part of this venture, Andy has garnered accolades from across the globe for his intricately carved pumpkins and sand sculptures.  Bergholtz and Villafane have earned an elite reputation in their field as the duo continues to push the boundaries of these art forms and build the Villafane Studios brand.
